Pilot episode: Serenity Pilot

The pilot episode gave a good introduction to the universe of Firefly and Serenity. The audience learns of the origins of Mal and Zoe from the Alliance and Browncoat war and thus where the name of the ship came from.

The episode goes on to show how Simon, River and the Preacher joined the crew. River was in a cold storage crate and her discovery occured as Mal unearthed a hidden Alliance Agent. Attention is diverted soon after though as a Reaver ship shows up and Serenity has to make a run for it.

The ship goes to a planet to sell some cargo but the woman they meet has other plans. Fortunatly, the captain outsmarted her and took care of the problem.

Arriving back at the ship, Mal has to kill the Alliance agent as he escaped and in the end he offers Simon the job as medic of Serenity.
